Hearing Testing and Wax Screenings

Doctors recommend that individuals over the age of 60 have their hearing tested annually. Early detection can reduce the risk of increased hearing loss. Hearing testing at Beltone is FREE and will determine if you actually have a hearing loss, or if your hearing loss is being caused by something as simple as ear wax. This is why the first step to our hearing testing, is a video ear scan, to see if ear wax may be causing your hearing difficulties.

Annual Hearing Testing

Most of the time hearing loss happens gradually and can go unnoticed for months or even years. We recommend having a baseline test to establish your hearing level. If you are in the normal range, then we will only need to have you come in annually for an updated test and track any changes.

Hearing loss and Cognitive Decline

Many people don’t realize that our ears function for us to hear, but understanding happens in our brain. The quality of life for someone with untreated hearing loss can start to decline because of it. As you lose your hearing over time, your brain slowly loses the ability to connect and recognize sounds and certain words. This is why some people hear, but don’t always understand what is being said. Hearing loss has even been linked to very serious health issues like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Early detection is important to help avoid serious issues like these later in life.
