In-Office Cleaning and Service:
Beltone offers cleaning and service of all hearing aid makes and models in our office by appointment. Curbside service may be available as well (please call to schedule).
Unlike some hearing aid companies, most of our Beltone hearing aid plans come with BelCare, which allows you to have your hearing aids cleaned as often as you like for free. This is part of the Beltone promise to you when you decide to choose Beltone.
Having your hearing aids professionally cleaned and serviced regularly ensures good performance to keep them running better, longer. A deep in-office clean can help remove debris and earwax that may naturally build up over time. Having them cleaned by a professional also guarantees the right tools are used to keep your hearing investment safe without damaging any components.
Additionally, we will run the hearing aids through a 10-point check-up.
10 – Point Hearing Aid Check-Up:
Are your hearing aids whistling? Are they working well to reduce background noise (like in restaurants)? Are they becoming weak? This too could be the cause of earwax build up or device decline. Caring for your hearing aids and having them maintained regularly can extend the life of your hearing aids. During your check-up, we will perform the following:
- Clean earmold, shell & tip
- Inspect tubing
- Check volume control
- Clean and adjust battery contacts
- Check the receiver
- Check the microphone
- Check all circuits
- Check all connections
- Replace batteries*
- Check hearing aids for overall performance
*not valid on rechargeable or ZPower batteries.
Even if you wear hearing aids, an annual hearing test is very important to ensure that your hearing aids are programmed to your current hearing loss (as it can change over time). This will ensure you are hearing your best with them. If you have not been tested in the last year, we will recommend an updated hearing test at your check-up.
At Home Care:
Daily care of your hearing aids is very important. While you may be nervous to perform certain types of care on your hearing aids, there are safe practices you can put into place to ensure you protect your investment.
Keep hearing aids dry – always good practice. There are a number of ways you can do this safely to avoid any moisture potentially harming hearing aid components. Desiccants or drying cups can help keep hearing aids stay dry. Daily use of the Beltone Perfect Clean system with your hearing aids is a great all-in-one solution. The Beltone Perfect Clean will remove moisture and earwax, as well as disinfect your hearing aids using medical grade UV-C light to kill germs. This product will help you extend the life of your hearing aids.
Also, be sure not to wear them in the shower, go swimming with them on, or when blow drying or using hair products that may damage them.
Keep them in a safe place. It is important to keep them off and safe in their case when not in use. This will help guarantee that they don’t end up someplace they shouldn’t and that pets or children don’t get ahold of them. Dogs have notoriously been known to chew on hearing aids, so keep them up high enough where they can’t reach.
Remove visible debris or earwax when necessary. This can be done by gently using a soft cloth to clean them.
Change wax guards or filters when necessary. If you have been shown how to do this correctly by your hearing professional, this is another great way to remove wax and debris that may be affecting sound quality.
